I hope so. But watching Trump rough up Zelensky suggests that Netanyahu might well face the same treatment (see link). I’d dismiss that concern if I believed that Trump had some core values or beliefs that guide his actions, but nothing suggests that’s true. … If you believe the Purim story is a useful reference, who will play the roles of Ahasuerus, Mordecai & Esther? (Related: the Purim story requires Jews to be embedded within the royal court of a gentile king, which in the modern case means that diaspora Jews must have a role to play in this narrative. If we all make aliyah, the Purim analogy would fall apart.)
Hester Panim — I have not previously been exposed to the concept. My religious education was often an exercise in casting pearls among swine. Still ruminating on your presentation. Oh,wait, swine don’t ruminate. Thanks for another gem. Your writing helps to illuminate the darkness.
When God hides His face it is because we refuse to see Him. You do not have to be an observant Jew to understand that, unless by observant we mean having the capacity to see things properly. In this case every Jew must understand that God is part of our family. He is there on Rosh Hahsana and He is there at the seder table. He is a constant reminder that we humans must know our place and it is not to occupy His. That is the lesson of the Tower of Babel story in Genesis. It is also the lesson of Jewish and world history. When we no longer allow God to hide His face we will be doing what we have to do to affirm and maintain Jewish sovereignty in Israel and security for Jews everywhere. That is why, hostage deals and ceasefire deals notwithstanding, this Gaza episode has to end with Israeli sovereignty over Gaza, Judea and Samaria and Jewish settlement on a massive scale in these areas. The rest is not literature but details and God, not the devil, is in the details too. And so that all Israelis can see God's face when our work is done, we will rebuild His Temple and He shall dwell among us, and all who look to Jerusalem shall see how happy is a people who allow God's face to shine upon them.
Stephen - I was nodding in agreement until I got near the end of your comment. Re the third Temple — do you believe we are destined to reintroduce animal sacrifices, too? And should we raze the Dome of the Rock & Al Aqsa Mosque to make room for the Temple?
We can do without animal sacrifices. We now have rotisserie spits to feed the worshippers after services. And yes, I advocate razing the Al-Aksa Mosque in re4sponse to over a hundred years of Mulsim lies that the Al-Aksa is in danger. As for the Dome of the Rock, we should dismantle it and ship it to Saudi Arabia. It was only built to satisfy the Damascene caliph whose fornicating ways led the keeper of the Kebah to keep him out of Mecca.

So… you want to raze Al Aqsa and build the Third Temple so that we can have an oneg in Jerusalem featuring some chicken rotisserie?? … 😂 … With all due respect, Stephen, I’m afraid you’ve lost the plot.
Also: “razing the Al-Aksa Mosque in re4sponse to over a hundred years of Mulsim lies that the Al-Aksa is in danger." — if you raze the mosque, then it wasn’t a lie, was it? The only way to prove it’s a lie is to leave it alone.
Wow! I pray daily for Hashem to come where we can know that our Lord is palpable and with us. I have faith.
You and me both.

Ehud, you are definitely a seer with a quill of golden ink.
