Hi Ehud - it's not true that babies were burned in front of their mothers on October 7. The person who said he had seen burned babies has retracted that claim. It's very important not to spread fake news.
I agree. It's important to be scrupulously accurate.
A little boy's eye was gouged out and a little girl's hand chopped off.. She bled to death. I'm not supplying receipts because I can't stand to relive this. If you can refute these claims go ahead. I'd be happy.
Where does Bibi fit into the “woke center left” and the religious Zionists? He isn’t either one, but he won’t take responsibility. He also believed in the “concept “ of keeping them just under their hands, but not to be defeated, no? I’m really asking. I am not a Bibi-hater. I’m just curious as to what his role is in all of this (in your opinion).
Ehud: the latest online edition of ‘The Gateway Pundit’ is running the spy-infiltrator story—his name, photo and detailed story. You will want to see this which also means this is now in public forum. Thank you for your articles and look forward to what you think about this TGP report. 🕎🩷
"Shared Operational Information to Anti-Netanyahu Protest Movement and Likely with the US State Dept."
Not sure how this accounts for the 8 hours of paralysis.
Plus it sounds an awful lot like what I wrote: he didn't share anything that wasn't being shared w/the Americans by everyone else in those secure rooms.
Honest question about the IAF: do you think there was insubordination? I referred to that in the post you cross-posted here.
"I have another conjecture, even worse than everything I’ve said.
Maybe Tomer Bar gave an order and it was ignored. Didn’t the Kaplan Street Gang threaten insubordination? Because Tomer Bar spoke for… Bibi, the hated man, as bad as Hitler.
Didn’t Yuval Diskin, former head of Israel’s FBI, who OK’d the disastrous Shalit deal, urge reservists to disobey orders at an anti-Bibi demonstration?
Didn’t he say that they would be “heroic” to do so?"
I was hesitant to write that but to paraphrase you, when someone is gouge out an 8 year old boy's eye and chop off a little girl's hand wrong, I just don't care about being polite. Gimme some truth as John Lennon said.
"The Achim Leneshek group had been critical of Netanyahu’s government and had even stated that its members would refuse to serve in the IDF due to the judicial reform efforts."
Ehud. You write with courage and a powerful conviction to delve below the surface of this “seemingly” complex situation. At its root, politics is only the expression of human will — with all its hubris, all its expediency, and all its denial of what is truly necessary.
As you wisely point out, the answer is the defeat of our enemies “North, South, East, and West. Is this possible? That’s not certain. Is it fundamentally necessary. Without question, yes. Thank you for your insights.
Excellent essay, Ehud. Especially your description of the younger generation. A reason for hope.
And so I imagine… Hamas is destroyed; Gaza flattened. Hezbollah defeated; southern Lebanon in ruins. The mullahs & the IRGC vaporized; Tehran a parking lot. The Houthis dismembered; Yemen a shadow of its former self. Maybe a few other Arab nations bombed, just for good measure. Too many dead to count.
It’s the ultimate f*ck around and find out.
Now, tell me what the map of the Middle East looks like. What are Israel’s borders? What new world has dawned? What happens to your brothers & sisters in the Diaspora? Most of all: As a religious Zionist, do you think the coming of the messiah and the day of our redemption is closer thanks to this full-on military campaign?
I’m not a critic of hitting back, and hard. But unlike secular nationalists who might believe the world is an unending struggle for survival, religious Jews & religious Zionists believe this battle one day comes to an end. I’m trying to understand how the scenario you’ve imagined gets us closer to that day if redemption.
You are more Israeli than you let on, Alan. You are asking: what’s the story on the “day after.” When we win, there will be time to make a plan. Everyone will have water, food and medical care. Schools will be open. But the most important thing is that we will be dealing with the 99% Arabs. They deserve a life.
The one percent are the equivalent of the Efende, or the land owner, and the 99% are the falachim, or indentured servants working the land. That is the way all Arab tribes are organized, the very few at the top, and all the rest. The only Arab group where this does not apply as a rule are Israeli Arabs. Once there was another group that had a chance for a decent middle class and that was in Lebanon before terrorism took over.
It's amazing to me that we look at the same (Islamic/Arab) world but draw dramatically different conclusions. Your 99% Arabs will not be the same people after the demolition of all your intended targets. They'll be energized, actualized, mobilized, just as the world of liberal Jewry woke up after Oct 7. Except there are only 16 million Jews in the world vs almost 2 billion Muslims. There is no way on G*D's green earth that Israel will be able to shoot it's way out of our collective predicament. Our Messiah doesn't show up in a hail of bullets and bombs.
“We regrettably have a culture of blaming the guard at the gate,”
That is managerialism, and American disease as much as any. Abu Gharib was blaming the lowest ranking men and women while their superiors got immunity to testify that their own orders were illegal.
It makes me sick. But as the saying goes: "we get the leaders that we deserve." I'll tell you long warred, I get the feeling that all it would take would be one significant leader to take responsibility publicly and truly, for a cultural change to begin. I do not expect it from the present generation--say 60 up--but the men and woman doing the fighting now...they are a whole different story.
Very well written, looking forward to the new generation taking charge, the supreme Court not ruling until 8:10 p.m. on that Saturday the 7th wasn't mentioned, thoughts? I read the gateway pundit article yesterday that was linked and glad it's out in the open.
As I have stated previously:”Throughout the history of the Jewish people and upon the formation of the state of Israel, its destruction and the murder of Jews by its enemies has never ceased and never will, until all the Jews are murdered. The enemies of Israel and Jews everywhere have told them so. They will never release the hostages alive, even if their absurd demands are met. They are fighting the Jacobins. At some point they will be disposed of by the barbarians they are cheering for. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Plan accordingly. Act accordingly.
Excellent explanation! It goes further back to Yamit. Begin was told bynthe Rebbe not to give Egypt a grain of sand. To this day we have no idea what kind of pressure was put on him by the LEFTIES.Some of the same ones that shot and killed JEWS on the Altelena.
You are right of course. And one gets the feeling that Egypt is just waiting for the right moment to pounce. However, all Jews are kin; we will float together or sink together. I vote for float.
Thoughtful, informative essay. The historical background is helpful in pointing the way to 10/7. One would think that '48, '67, Yom Kippur, and the Intifadas are a history weighty enough in not letting the national 'guard' down. Especially recalling the '88 Covenants, reaffirmed in 2017 by not renouncing 1988. Why expect a different Iran proxy endgame with an Arab state within the '67 borders. That simply provides the threat with a larger operating base right at the doorstep. Acknowledging this history, I don't understand how anyone would think a two-state solution is a viable option. Israel claims its rightful 1967 sovereignty and provides a ticket to the country of choice to any Arab not willing to live a peaceful, and productive life within Israel.
I appreciated your look forward. So much of the discussion is on the haters and where we've been. It's good to hear the next generation appears to be on track to accomplish more productive plans for a secure and hopefully prosperous Israel. (And by prosperous I do not mean the lifestyle consumption the U.S. sells to itself and the world. An Unimportant Woman (not true!), Ends her posts with a suggestion to donate to a local foodbank. Your "zeitgeist of defeat" is exactly the rot eating away strength of the U.S, and if not changed, we will topple from the world stage like a rotted-out scarecrow. Such is our present moral and defense posture. We have lost concepts such as objective truth and morality. Such concepts require the acknowledgment of One Who is their source and holds us accountable for our adherence or not. Otherwise, we end up where Israel found itself during the time of the judges when Hashem was supposed to be their King, but instead "...everyone did what was right in their own eyes..." Just look at the U.S. landscape today. It is so utterly different than when I was growing up, I am utterly dumbfounded.
You are sooooo right. I just went along like a sheep. Thanks for the face-slap. Just this morning I was reading a stack I really liked and the artwork almost killed it for me.

The whole crowd at the helm has to go. That's where he fits in.

It doesn't account for that paralysis at all.
Shalom. I tried but got a pop up saying it would not go through. Very sorry. I believe Ehud has by now.

I'll answer your first question. Yes. Until proven otherwise, that is the most likely reason for the IAF not showing up.
I just read the Gateway Pundit article.
"The Achim Leneshek group had been critical of Netanyahu’s government and had even stated that its members would refuse to serve in the IDF due to the judicial reform efforts."
More circumstantial evidence.

Or a great leader to make some changes that really affect things.
Nayib Bukele (ironically, of Palestinian Christian origin) did it in El Salvador.
Yup. Same story at Me Lai.
There you go.
All Calley did was take responsibility.

Thanks Alan. No thoughts on your question. Also, not sure that it is out in the open in Israel.
Thanks so much, I needed this kind of optimism as most of media consumption is focused on doom and gloom… I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
חזק ואמץ 💪
You're welcome!
Great post.
Haven’t heard anything like this.
Very encouraging.
